Yes, it’s that time of year – that everything in the craft stores inspires me to start crafting again. This project was inspired by these adorable mini mason jars I came across in Dollar Tree the other day. Two jars for $1.00! Last Christmas I made my associates a sugar scrub and they all loved them. When making sugar scrubs the recipes are endless. I have seen some made with just about everything. This recipe is simple: 3 ingredients
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of olive oil or coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Mix all your ingredients together and place in your little jars. This recipe filled 4 jars. Because everything is just cuter with a printable, I made a free set to share. I gave a few of these to my friends and my daughter’s teacher.

Oh Dollar Tree how I love finding cute little gift ideas at your store! Dollar Tree is always a hit or miss for me, sometimes I go in and find nothing and then sometimes I find myself spending over $30 in one trip, who does that! Well one of the things I found were these adorable pumpkin pie candles that came in little mason jars. The best part they smell amazing! I am creating a fall basket for my bestie because we both love fall so much, so Happy National Fall Day should be a gift giving holiday! So I created this cute free printable that says “You’re sweet as Pumpkin Pie” to cover up the Dollar Tree generic label – which the label easily pealed off. Download Here for your free set
You can cut these out or punch out to turn into a tag also. I don’t know how I passed kindergarten because I cannot cut a perfect circle apparently. But they do have circle punchers.
Next I found a pretty fall burgundy color ribbon at Dollar Tree that I tied around my jar. They also have apple cinnamon that I need to create a label for Christmas gifts. When I do I’ll be sure to share it. Happy Fall!
Back to school is around the corner!
Getting prepared for your little ones to head back to school? Here are some of our favorite must haves to help you get ready! First, Tina showed me this great free Teacher’s favorite things printable by Life Sweet Life I used it last year and stuck on my fridge for the year.
First day of school is always a special picture day and we love all the free back to school printables you can get from Pinterest! Last Year I used these cute chalkboard Back to School by Yellow Bliss Road. Of course I used it – it’s Chalkboard!
I just love this Printable: When I grow up by Sweet C’s Designs
Tina uses a chalkboard easel for her daughters first day of school!
Sneak a little note in your children’s lunch box to make them smile! I wish my husband would sneak notes in my purse. I have used these cute lunch box notes by Honey Jumble
Have your child fill out this first day of school questionnaire by Giggles Galore. This is such a great idea for your children’s keepsake box.
Ugh what to do with the millions amount of artwork your child brings home. Really my refrigerator can only hold so much! So Tina introduced me to this treasure she found at Ikea! Unfortunately I know we all don’t have an Ikea around us but I found it on Amazon IKEA curtain wire. I have mine going down my hallway and I love It! I’m going to create a gallery wall above it with some of their artwork framed. .
What to do with all that school work and artwork you have left! I have my daughters currently in a folder that all year we saved her work and I just went through and saved all my favorites and got rid of the rest. Don’t be a pack rat – your children are not going to want these boxes of artwork one day! So this is why I love this next idea. We all love those photo books! I make mine on Shutterfly, and I was searching their photo books and they have a children’s Art Book. This is such a great idea! Take all the artwork you have from K-5th or sooner and create your own little Art Book. Another great benefit with Shutterfly is they save all your photo books you create. So if for any reason it gets destroyed or lost, you can reorder it! So when your child brings home 5 pages a day – start taking a picture of it with your cell and send it to your computer to be saved!
Alright enough about our kiddos. What about those teachers that have to put up with our kids all day! Well on my daughters school supply list it had our teachers wish list. So I grabbed all those goodies and a few of our own and made a little basket, and attached a little printable we created. Here is our free Back to school teacher printable
We hope your kids have a great back to school!

One of my sweet employees Emily and her mother have an obsession with painting rocks. I saw a picture recently of some of them and was impressed.
They get most of their rocks in rivers and mountains. Do not take them from National Parks, it is against the law. The key is to get flat, smooth rocks. Rinse your rocks clean and let sit to dry.
They have a little table set up on their deck with their tools and paintbrushes. They have a small container which has drawers that they keep all the paint on so it’s easier to access. Have a lot of paintbrushes to choose from.
They use acrylic paint that can be found at Walmart. They use the Apple Barrel brand and it’s only 97 cents! After the rock is painted with whatever design you picked, you set it out to dry. It may take 2-3 coats of paint to coat your rock. You will need to let dry between coats.
Also, paint pens work great for small detail work.
They then use a gloss finish varnish that makes the rock look polished and pretty! You can also use Modge Podge to set the paint.
Rock Garden. They make cute paperweight gifts. Kids can help too.
Coming to a garden near you!
Oh the love I have for sweet tea, and because I love sweet tea so much I thought sweet tea favors in some mason jars would be a cute little favor for a Tea Party!
The wonderful Martha Stewart posted a cute DIY favor idea for a wedding, but because I love mason jars I decided to put mine in Jars. Here is my tutorial on making your own sugar cubes. Because my heart mold is bigger I only added 4 heart sugar molds to two tea bags. Martha Stewart provided a Free printable that I fixed up and folded to go along in my mason jars.
I added some twine and created my own Sweet Tea Printable to dress up my mason jar. You can also get your Mason Jar Lids on Amazon. If you haven’t noticed yet, mason jar tumbler cups are everywhere and come with cute little straws. I picked one up because I liked the color and it was on clearance. Here is another free Sweet Tea chalkboard printable if you like the chalkboard look!
Burlap, Chevron, and some sparkly clothespins – what’s not to love? So on one of my many trips to Hobby Lobby, I scored this fabulous frame that was originally $56 for little over $5 dollars! Love it! So I bought 2 of them! Always check out clearance at Hobby Lobby (this was in the 90% section). I wanted to create one of those clothespins frames that you see everywhere. I wanted the printed burlap that I found for $15.99 a yard at Jo Ann’s and because I am cheap I thought I could make my own. Well I did a few stencils and it was a hot mess! Apparently I cannot stencil. But I did find this chevron burlap at Hobby Lobby for only $5.99 a yard. I then used my 40% coupon app which made it $3.60. Love a great deal!
Now for my frame I had some Twine Jute thread. Once you buy a roll you will have this roll probably the rest of your life.
I used a staple gun to staple my thread to the frame. Once I had them placed, I cut out my burlap for my frame and stapled it. I found my mini clothes pins at Target craft section for less than $3.00. You could also make your own with modge podge and glitter, but some things are just better already made! (glitter mess free!) When I was done I grabbed some burlap ribbon I had and made a bow, and hot glued it to my frame. And there you go; for less than $10.00 I made myself a Burlap Chevron clothespins frame! Now I have tons of Chevron burlap leftover. I need to think of something to do with it.
