My church is hosting an Easter Egg hunt this year and was asking that each child bring 20 eggs prefilled for the hunt. The children in our Awana group love “Bubble Gum” night, (this is where they receive bubble gum for completing so many verses.) I knew I had to get wrapped gum, but with having the 2 kids, I didn’t want to fill 40 eggs with just candy. So we were off to the store to find affordable, yet fun things to fill some of the eggs with.
I decided on filling the eggs with stickers, marbles and small party favors. I do run a special event company and always have party favors laying around anyway. Easter is the “second most” candy buying holiday in America, next to Halloween. So as much as I love Chocolate bunny rabbits, I do not want to give my kids a sugar overload. Plus they have two more Easter Egg hunts to go to this year.
I also want to jazz up a couple of the eggs. I saw on my beloved Pinterest some Minion eggs. All it takes is yellow and blue plastic eggs. Put blue on the bottom and yellow on top. Need a black sharpie or black paint and googly eyes. Hot glue their eyes on and then use sharpie or paint to draw on their hair, glasses and mouths.
I must say it was not a Pinterest fail.
I found some Despicable Me – Minion fruit snacks to fill them with. The kids loved the Minion eggs and one child asked if I would make him one since he did not find one in the Easter Egg hunt.
